Board of Directors

  • Marwan Iskandar

    Mr. Marwan Iskandar is a distinguished banker and economist. A Lebanese pioneer in bank mergers, Mr. Iskandar served as the Vice Chairman of Banque Pharaon & Chiha for 21 years, and the Chairman of Banque de Credit National for 3 years, ultimately negotiating a successful exit for its shareholders at the time. In 1978, he founded Banque SBA in Paris, securing investors for 70% of its shares, including the participation of a global bank for the remaining 30%.  A renowned author and journalist, Mr. Iskandar is the former Chief Editor of an-Nahar financial section and has written dozens of books which have been translated into Arabic, English, French, Russian, and Japanese. He has served as a formal advisor to Oman and Qatar. Mr. Iskandar has also participated in committees advising Lebanese governments on economic crisis and recovery.

  • Nadi Najjar

    Me. Najjar is a partner at Roger Najjar Law Firm, a prominent legal advisory firm in Lebanon with presence in Luxembourg through Wildgen Partners in Law. Me. Najjar has extensive knowledge and experience of more than 20 years in Lebanon, the Middle East and Europe, specializing in Corporate Law, International Business Law, Banking Law, Funds, Trusts and Real Estate. He has advised on numerous cross-border projects, mergers and acquisitions, and is a Board Member of several high-profile financial institutions and corporations. Me. Najjar is a member of the Beirut, American, and International Bar Associations, in addition to being an arbitrator with the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague and a member of the British Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

  • Edgard E. Joujou

    Edgard Joujou is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, a graduate of the University of Cambridge, and has an MA from London University. Mr. Joujou led audit (financial statements and forensic), advisory, and tax assignments in the UK, Greece, and Lebanon, in addition to various other Middle Eastern countries. He has experience advising clients in financial services, insurance, manufacturing, the health sector, and hospitality. As the Managing Partner of KPMG Lebanon, Mr. Joujou was involved in the audit of the Development Fund for Iraq (set up in pursuance of UN Security Resolution 1483), the Central Bank of Iraq, and the Trade Bank of Iraq. Mr. Joujou is highly skilled in business valuation and strategic planning.
    Upon his departure from KPMG in 2017, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Saint George Hospital University Medical Center (SGHUMC), one of the most prestigious hospitals in the Middle East. Mr. Jouou guided the institution through various threats and challenges facing Lebanon and the health sector. His efforts placed SGHUMC in a position to weather the financial crises that erupted in Lebanon over the 2019-2022 period (described by the World Bank as one of the worst 3 crises since the mid-nineteenth century), the COVID-19 pandemic, and the explosion of the Port of Beirut (second most powerful non-nuclear blasts of all times), which wrecked more than 80% of SGHUMC.

  • Mr. Najib Canaan studied in Beirut, before traveling to the US, where he obtained an undergraduate degree in Systems Engineering from Cornell University in 1987. He worked in banking in 1987 in New York and London at Donaldson Lufkin, and Jenrette, DLJ. Mr. Canaan moved to Tokyo as Head of Nomura Finance’s fixed income operations in 2002. In 2014, Mr. Canaan returned to New York, and founded Marinus Partners, which currently has $500 million of capital under management, focusing on mortgage-backed securities. Mr. Canaan is a dual US/Lebanon citizen.

  • Mr. Nazareth Festekjian studied Electrical Engineering at the American University of Beirut. He subsequently departed Lebanon and continued his graduate Engineering studies at Northwestern University in the US, where he also received an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management. Mr. Festekjian worked at Moody’s Investor Services in New York from 1986 to 1992, before joining Citigroup, where he is currently a senior Managing Director at their Salomon Smith Barney Division on Wall Street in New York, and Head of their Global Fixed Income New Product Groups. Mr. Festekjian is a dual US/Lebanon citizen.

  • Mr. Sharif Saba studied civil engineering and finance at the American University of Beirut, and worked at Citibank in Beirut, Lebanon, prior to moving to the United States. Mr. Saba received his MBA from Columbia University in New York in the early-1990s. He has worked on Wall Street for more than twenty years and resides in New York City. Mr. Saba is currently Managing Director and Head of Global Risk Management Strategies at Wells Fargo’s Investment Bank in New York. Mr. Saba is a dual US/Lebanon citizen.
