Marwan A. Marshi was born in Beirut, Lebanon, in October of 1961. He has more than 35 years of Investment Banking experience on Wall Street, and is the Founder & Chairman/General Manager of Marshi & Partners, a financial innovation boutique specializing on the advice and execution of corporate and sovereign liability and risk management strategies. Previously, Mr. Marshi was Managing Partner and Head of Structured Products and Customized Separate Accounts at Plainfield Asset Management, a $6 billion Assets Under Management, high-yield and distressed credit-markets hedge-fund in Greenwich, Connecticut. Prior to that, Mr. Marshi had 25 years of experience in New York in Investment Banking Capital Markets, most recently as Deutsche Bank’s Senior Managing Director of Global Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, and Risk & Liability Management for all loans and bonds, and before that for 20 years as Head of Global Capital Markets at Salomon Brothers, and Vice Chairman at Citigroup. Mr. Marshi is one of the early pioneers in the fields of liability management and debt restructurings dating back to 1986. He has executed the restructuring and issuance of more than one-and-a-half trillion US Dollars of programs in the corporate, agency, supra and sovereign sectors, in most currencies. At Salomon Brothers, he managed the first-ever Brady Bond Exchange Offer for Mexico, and created many financial innovations and derivative-based enhancements that revolutionized the debt restructuring industry. Mr. Marshi received an MBA in Finance as a Sord Scholar (in 1986), after completing his MS & BS degrees in Chemical Engineering (in 1984 and 1982, respectively).
